Even here in America there’s widespread malnutrition, with approximately 13 million American children living in homes that have limited access to food and suffer from a lack basic vitamins, minerals and protein in their diet, which are essential to a child’s development and can lead to disease and stunted growth.
1 in 5 children that are at risk of hunger here in America and in most Counties, half of the school kids rely on free or reduced school lunches for their main source of nutrition. In just Orange County, CA alone, that’s 151,000+ children who may be going to bed hungry tonight.
Low-income meals are often heavy in sugar and fat, and lacking critical nutrients. When children do not get a sufficient amount of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals, it can result in dizziness, fatigue and weight loss, and long-term malnutrition can lead to stunted growth and mental and physical disabilities.
Our mission is to alleviate hunger and to assist people to fight hunger in their local communities with direct funding and by sharing our fundraising tools and programs with our network of giving partners nonprofits who serve these local communities.
Maximize you impact when you donate to the Children’ International Food Project. These partners include local food banks, homeless shelters, churches and other organizations.
Double the impact with your donor dollars through our corporate sponsorship programs. We have corporate donors that will double the donations made by individual donors to help us achieve a bigger impact. With your help, we can raise awareness about widespread malnutrition, while providing ongoing support to help at-risk populations gain access to the critical nutrients they need for development. Well-nourished people can learn new skills, think critically and contribute to their communities.
Together we can help give children a healthy start and empower them to lead healthier, happier, more productive lives and make a positive impact upon society as a whole. We are incredibly proud to be a part of this movement. It will change the lives of millions of children to achieve good health and the chance to lead a happy future.
Food drives are a fun community event!
When kind-hearted eight-year-old Ronnie Hazlie saw a documentary on television about food banks and people using them, he couldn’t believe that people didn’t have food. He knew he had to help. He set out on a mission to collect cans of food to help stock up the banks. He collected 92 cans for the harvest festival last year but this year he wanted to smash his record.
With the help of his mom, Katy-Jane, he set up a Facebook event and has so far collected an incredible 519 cans! The Facebook event called ‘Donate A Can For The Ronster’ has attracted donations from all over the UK. People have been sending money directly to Ronnie if they are too far away, so that he can buy his own cans to give to the food bank.
